When you’re really certain that you’re really stoned Pull down your curtain don’t answer your phone Cos nothing’s gonna happen while you’re all alone No misunderstanding, there’s no place like home and there’s nowhere to go and there’s no-one to know The wall that you’re facing says all kind of things Whispers a warning of intimate dreams Decisions, collisions, demands and extremes No wonder you’re falling apart at the seams and there’s nowhere to go and there’s no-one to know When you’re really sure that you’re really stoned Don’t open the door, leave the phone, Cos nothing’s gonna happen while you’re all alone

And say could we try to say whatever comes to mind And say could we try to find whatever time we have Whatever time we have Just when you thought you could hold me down Just when you thought you could hold me down and say Whatever comes to mind And say could we try to play whatever turns you on Whatever turns you on Just when you thought you could hold me down Just when you thought you could hold me down Just when you thought you could hold me down and say Whatever comes to mind

Future Days 02:21
Future days are in my hands Falling thru like sifting sands In the desert making plans Final words and final stands Time to turn to future ways Hard to imagine future days It’s always cold before the dawn In time the weak can join the strong And I stand by I’m eye to eye with days gone by I’ve seen the changing of the guard The queen was late, she took it hard She struck the captain in a rage It felt like someone tor the page So I lingered in the square Til they forgot that I was there On the guard she’d made her mark Their eyes were burning in the dark And I stand by I’m eye to eye with days gone by I stand by I’m eye to eye with days gone by I stand by I’m eye to eye with days gone by

Fading Sun 03:20
Your new you and my new me You’re the ocean, I’m the sea There’s a possibility Invent yourself, it sets you free I was always attracted by things that shine I don’t wanna hold ‘em, wanna make ‘em mine And build little sculptures, and when they’re done Hide ‘em away from the fading sun I hide ‘em from the fading sun Hide ‘em from the fading sun I’m always chasing a distant car I wanna be riding where you are Not back in the traffic in a can Scared of the passenger I am Hiding from the fading sun Hiding from the fading sun Hiding from the fading sun Hiding from the fading sun

Those unnatural disasters We try to fix with sticking plasters My bleeding heart just isn’t in it It’s beating slower by the minute It’s a natural reaction Causing grave dissatisfaction Well we raged and we sorrowed We tore the page from tomorrow Bleeding hearts and sticking plasters Bleeding hearts and sticking plasters Bleeding hearts and sticking plasters Bleeding hearts and sticking plasters

Those evenings burned in mind How will she ever escape Those times so cruel and crazed Dancing in time to our fate The rainbow fades and more Lonely is often so sure Something’s changing The starling flies, she’s out of your sight Something’s changing again Something’s changing The endless stream of everyday love Something’s changing again Got caught himself, and spoke A cigarette stuck on your lip You whisper now and then Why don’t you turn out the light The love then fades, it’s right Don’t even believe what it said Something’s changing again Something’s changing The starling flies, she’s out of your sight Something’s changing again Something’s changing The endless stream of everyday love Something’s changing again

Smothered 02:45
What your mother doesn’t know, your mother doesn’t care You been trying to let it go but you see her everywhere You can never do enough, you can never get it right And you’re tired of acting tough in the middle of the night And the fire was smothered when the light was covered Should’ve just not bothered If you’re never gonna know, you’re never gonna care You been trying to let it go but you know it’s always there So you better play it close, and you better keep it hid ‘cause you’ve had a heavy does and it’s tightening your lid And the fire was smothered when the light was covered Should’ve just not bothered And the fire was smothered when the light was covered Should’ve just not bothered

The Touch 02:07
That reminds me of the stories that I used to write Before my dreams kept me up at night People told me I had the touch But I never really used it that much I left my broken toys on the shelf But I wasn’t any good for much else I been picking up the pieces that I used to play I locked them in the basement when I walked away People told me I had the touch But I never really used it that much I left my broken toys on the shelf But I wasn’t any good for much else
9.
I mangled the language you thought you knew And all that you wanted I took that too I sigh at your troubles And dab my eye I’ve got mine Forget forgiveness, my faith is a joke Carved it in concrete, the word that I spoke Deliver my message from up on high I’ve got mine
10.
You’ve got that look in your eye This much I’ve learned The longer you stare at the sky The worse you get burned And it’s not what we planned We’ve got a stake in the land The future’s not ours to be earned This much I’ve learned You’re wearing that brooch that I bought To help with your highs While a fair warning weather report Blots the glimmering skies And it’s not like before It’s a new kind of war The future’s not ours to be burned This much I’ve learned And I’ll take the first shift And I’ll bridge the next rift And I’ll bring the last gift Straight to you Yeah I’ll take the first shift And I’ll bridge the next rift And I’ll bring the next gift Straight to you

Demosphere 03:28
Way up here in the demosphere I hear your bell-like voice in my shell-like ear My head feels dizzy and the words aren’t clear If I don’t stop drifting they could disappear There’s an ill wind filling in the atmosphere There’s a chill riding in on the crystal air My legs ain’t working but my path is clear It’s time to kick the pricks down the cellar stair Yeah yeah yeah, yeah Well I can’t get down with your velocity Your indecent taste in mediocrity Your mustard sweater on your brown setee Your low grade liquor not my cup of tea I can’t help noticing the state you’re in With your Beach Boy hair and your Gordon’s grin Your friends all celebrate your latest win It’s a real cool scene but you can’t get in Yeah yeah yeah, yeah…
